Please join the Shire of Drakenmere for a weekend devoted to an exploration of the Viking culture in Iceland and Greenland and related areas in the tenth century. We will have classes, children’s activities, martial activities, indoor and outdoor activities with a Viking feast followed by a European Revel and Bardic bonfire.
We are using Magnolia Springs State Park for the first time to host Jour d’Amour. Tent camping and martial activities and a bardic bonfire will occur in the Pioneer Camp at Magnolia Springs. A modern camping area is available for an extra cost through the state park as well as cottage rental (click the link for details). Indoor activities and feast, and a European revel will occur in the heated Group Shelter #2. Other outdoor activities and games will occur in the adjacent Picnic Pavilion #1.
The Group shelter is ADA accessible and the picnic pavilion is close to the group shelter. However, the pioneer campground is 0.6 miles away by road. There is abundant parking, but the park charges $5 for a parking pass (there is no additional cost to park if you are an annual pass holder—be sure to bring your hang tag with you!).
